Aaron Ramsdale transfer news – next club odds: Newcastle clear favourites to sign Arsenal star in January

MIKEL ARTETA wants Aaron Ramsdale to remain at Arsenal, despite losing his status at the No1.

But speculation continues to grow on his future and Newcastle have been priced up as the clear favourites to sign the shot-stopper in the January window.

Ramsdale has featured just four times since the start of November – the Carabao Cup loss to West Ham, Champions League draw at PSV with little on the line and the recent loss to Liverpool in the FA Cup.

His only Premier League appearance in that time came against Brentford but that was due to David Raya’s ineligibility to feature against the Bees.

The 25-year-old was pushing for the England number one spot before falling out of favour at the Emirates and could be on the lookout for more game time ahead of next summer’s Euros.

Arteta said at the start of December: “I am very happy to have two very, very good goalkeepers and Aaron is staying with us”, when questioned on his future.

That followed reports a Premier League club had their approach from Ramsdale rejected by the North Londoners.

The Gunners have been on a dreadful run of form since then and it would appear the chances of Ramsdale being allowed to leave the club are pretty low, particularly having recently signed a new deal to keep him until 2026.

But should he be allowed to leave, Newcastle are the clear favourites with Sky Bet to snap him up.

The Magpies are 3/1 having lost Nick Pope for four months to injury last month.

Wolves (10/1) and Nottingham Forest (12/1) are next, with the reports in December suggesting a bottom-half team had enquired about his services.

That could’ve also meant Chelsea at the time and they’re in at 14/1 to make a move.

Dortmund are 16s ahead of West Ham and former club Sheffield United at 20/1.
