THIS is the moment ‘absolute mayhem’ broke out as two jockeys ended up riding the same horse in a chaotic Ludlow pile-up.
Three jockeys hit the deck but thankfully all were up and moving after an action-packed end to a mares’ novice hurdle on Thursday.
The chaos started when David Bass was sent flying from Von Hallers after she appeared to clip heels with another horse rounding the home bend.
He was sent spiralling to the turf head-first as leader Faha Belle was in the process of taking the wrong course.
That horse crashed through the running rail and jockey Daire Davis was sent flying – only to end up literally riding Kit’s Coty.
For a split second Tom Bellamy, Kit’s Coty’s jockey, and Davis were BOTH riding the same horse.
But then Bellamy got unseated and crashed to the turf as the remainder of the horses thundered over the top of him.
It was a minor miracle that Racing TV reported all jockeys and horses were unharmed after the flashpoint.
The race was eventually won by 28-1 outsider Victoria Milano for jockey Jack Tudor and trainer Alastair Ralph.
