It comes just days after the club suspended CEO Alex Kroes following accusations of insider trading.

Goals from Igor Paixao, Newcastle loanee Yankuba Minteh and David Hancko saw the hosts take a 3-0 first half lead.

Paixao and Minteh both added a second each after the break, with Quinten Timber – twin brother of Arsenal’s Jurrien – also scoring.

England midfielder Jordan Henderson was absent from the Ajax squad, though, due to injury.

The six-goal mauling comes after Feyenoord won the reverse fixture 4-0.

Ajax fans caused the match to be abandoned back in September as they smashed up the stadium and clashed with police with the score at 3-0.

The match was ultimately completed three days later, with Feyenoord adding a fourth before the final whistle.

It was the first in a series of low points for Ajax this season, which included slipping to the bottom of the table in October after losing to PSV.

Ajax have had four different managers this season, with two caretaker bosses taking charge as well as interim coach John van ‘t Schip.

A number of managers have been linked with taking the role permanently in the summer, including ex-Chelsea boss Graham Potter.

Sunday’s De Klassieker mauling has all but ended Ajax’s hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

They are now 15 points adrift of the top three with just five matches remaining.

Instead, the 36-time Dutch champions are set to have to go through a Conference League play-off to qualify for Europe.
