ALEX Scott started to cry during tonight’s Children In Need after hearing the emotional story of a little boy with Tourettes.

The sports presenter and former footballer had to be comforted by her co-host Chris Ramsey after struggling to speak to the camera during the live show.

Alex had just watched a short video of the youngster who was picked on at school after developing the tic disorder and was overcome with emotion.

Taking a deep breath, she said: “Without Children In Need…”

Alex’s voice then cracked as she leaned into Chris and apologised, whispering: “Sorry…”

Placing his arm around her, Chris kindly told Alex: “It got you, that one, didn’t it?”

Nodding and taking another breath, she admitted: “It got me.”

Alex then managed to continue and tell viewers how Children In Need money had helped the young boy meet other kids with similar difficulties, but her voice kept wobbling.

Chris gave her an encouraging pat as he took over and asked people at home to pledge money to the charity.

The pair then handed over to the Children In Need choir for a performance of You Raise Me Up.

Chris told her: “You’re going to cry again.” She admitted: “I know.”

Alex was in good company, as viewers have also found themselves in tears.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan admitted: “I’ve just been gently crying throughout this tonight.. really well put together show so far.”

Another wrote: “Not stopped crying #childreninneed.”

Alex is among a lineup of six stars who are presenting this year’s Children In Need.

She looked incredible in a daring cut out dress with thigh-split as she took to the stage for the event.

Before this year’s fundraiser aired, she said: “I look forward to it every year and having a live audience with us always makes it extra special.

“The whole evening is honestly just magical, and it means so much to me to be presenting again with such an incredible presenting team.

BBC Children in Need will always hold a special place in my heart, the stories from the incredible children and the generosity of the British public never ceases to amaze me.”
