But SunSport exclusively revealed that she was stepping down last week

According to Bloomberg, Staveley is determined to buy stakes in another Premier League club.

She has apparently already held talks over investing in Tottenham after raising £500million through her investment fund PCP Capital Partners.

Owner Daniel Levy is believed to be open to selling part of the club.

He told Bloomberg News last year: “I’ve got no real interest to leave Tottenham, but I have a duty to consider anything that anyone may want to propose.”

Staveley was the public face of the Saudi consortium who bought Newcastle.

She is popular with the fans at Newcastle as she often spent time meeting and drinking with them, along with husband Ghodoussi.

The 51-year-old also represented Toon at Premier League meetings where she was forceful presence, with Newcastle often opposing rule changes introduced by the league such as including restrictions on sponsorship deals.

Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund paid £300m for 80 per cent of Newcastle in 2021 in a surprise move that has transformed its fortunes and fundamentally changed the Premier League.

Staveley received a stake in the club as payment for her involvement in the deal.

She claimed in March that former boss Steve Bruce “didn’t even want to come to work” when she bought the Magpies.

Bruce left after just one game following the takeover with an £8m payout before Eddie Howe arrived.

Speaking at the Bloomberg Power Players’ Summit in Jeddah, Staveley was speaking about the state of the club when she arrived.

She said: “We had few commercial revenues, we had a team that was ageing, a fan base that was angry, and a coach who basically didn’t even want to come to work.”

But Staveley backtracked on Instagram, saying: “I would like to clarify a comment I made during a recent speaking engagement.

“While commenting on Newcastle United at the time of the club’s change in ownership I suggested the club had a coach who did not want to come to work.

How 'big angel' Joelinton rescued boss after he fainted in Subway

NEWCASTLE cult hero Joelinton rescued his old boss after he fainted in Subway.

And coach Pellegrino Matarazzo still calls the Brazilian his ‘angel’.

Matarazzo was Joelinton assistant manager during the midfielder’s spell in Germany with Hoffenheim.

Recalling the scary incident, the Matarazzo revealed: “I was standing in the queue and I wasn’t feeling well.

“I tried to go over to the Coca-Cola machine to quickly get a drink.

“I realised I was about to faint, and I did faint.

“When I opened my eyes I saw Joelinton! ‘Rino, Rino, are you okay?’

“He was like a small, no a big, angel – Joelinton, what are you doing here?”

“This suggestion was not correct; Steve Bruce was fully committed to his role at the club and always came to work during this period.

“I would like to make my intention to question or undermine the professionalism of Steve, who was always professional throughout my deals with him and committed to achieving the best for Newcastle United.

“I am happy to clarify my comments and I offer an apology to Steve for my comments and any unintended consequences.”
