GK — ASMIR BEGOVIC (QPR)

He only made 33 appearances in two seasons at Stamford Bridge.

But Begovic, 36, would have walked into today’s Chelsea team back then.

And after leaving Stamford Bridge that summer, Begovic enjoyed spells at Bournemouth, Qarabag, AC Milan and Everton before settling at QPR.

Ake, 28, only made seven league appearances before impressing on a permanent deal at Bournemouth.

And the rest is history after Man City snapped him up for a bargain £40m fee in 2020.

Ake played a huge role in last term’s historic Treble win and continues to prove his worth to Pep Guardiola.

LB — EMERSON PALMIERI (WEST HAM)

Emerson, 29, played just 33 times in the league between 2017 and 2022 before joining the Hammers 18 months ago.

Like Zouma, the Italy international played a pivotal role in their Europa Conference League win.

And he would certainly do a better job than makeshift left-back Levi Colwill, who continues to be played out of position by Mauricio Pochettino.

Kevin De Bruyne remains Chelsea’s biggest-ever transfer fumble[/caption]

CM — KEVIN DE BRUYNE (MAN CITY)

Undisputedly the best midfielder in the Premier League, De Bruyne is still doing the business at 32.

Five titles, two FA Cups and a Champions League at City will forever haunt the dreams of Chelsea fans who saw him let go in 2014.

De Bruyne has even scored 10 goals in 13 league games against the Blues.

And Havertz will now be desperate to taste some trophies in north London after finally feeling the heat of a title race.

Werner is hoping for some silverware with Spurs[/caption]

LW — TIMO WERNER (TOTTENHAM)

Written off as a dud striker, Werner has returned to England with plenty to prove.

He failed to live up to billing at Chelsea after a glorious showing at RB Leipzig.

And the 27-year-old’s second spell with the Germans was also well below par.

But in Ange Postecoglou’s high-octane Tottenham team, Werner is well-placed to haunt his former side.
