ANTHONY JOSHUA’S former coach has fired another dig his way – by claiming he would lose to lightweight Gervonta Davis.

American trainer Robert Garcia was brought in by AJ last year following his first defeat to Oleksandr Usyk.

And after Usyk, 36, won the rematch last August, Garcia was publicly critical of Joshua, 33, which led to his dismissal from the camp.

It appears the animosity is still there as Garcia joked Davis – who is NINE STONE lighter – would win a fight against him.

The insult came as ESNews asked who would win between “Tank” Davis, 28, and super-bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue, 30.

Garcia said: “Why are you even talking about that? He’s a 122lber.”

To further this point, Garcia’s friend then jokingly asked: “Who wins, Tank or Anthony Joshua?”

But Garcia shouted out: “Tank probably beats Anthony Joshua!”

Joshua weighed 18st 2lb for his last fight, a win over Jermaine Franklin in April while Davis is a 9st 9lb boxer.

AJ – now trained by Derrick James in Texas – returns on August 12 in a rematch with Dillian Whyte, 35, who he beat in 2015.

And Joshua is also in line to face Deontay Wilder, 37, in Saudi Arabia in January and Garcia did throw some rare backing his way.

He told Boxing Social: “People might think that Wilder has insane power where he’s gonna be much stronger or hits harder than Anthony. I don’t know.

“I’ve never felt Wilder’s power but I have felt Anthony. Anthony has great power. Unbelievable power.

“I think it’s one of those fights where whoever lands first, whoever wants it more, is gonna be the winner.

“It’s a fight that I would love to see even though I’m not working with Anthony.”
