Duplantis broke the Olympic record with a jump of 6.1m with his next attempt.

And the 24-year-old beat his own world record by one centimetre when he cleared 6.25m with his next jump.

The two-time world champion has now broken the record on nine occasions.

American Sam Kendricks cleared 5.95m to take silver, while Greece‘s Emmanouil Karalis secured bronze with 5.90m.

Duplantis did a lap of the track draped in the Swedish flag as Dancing Queen by Abba blared out.

The Swede also paid tribute to two viral Olympic memes.

He posed with a noticeable bulge in his shorts in a nod to Anthony Ammirati’s manhood costing him a place in the final.

Duplantis had one hand tucked into his waistband and the other outstretched to mimic Turkish shooter Yusuf Dikec’s iconic relaxed stance.
