ARSENAL icon Gilberto Silva has urged Mikel Arteta to “be like a fisherman” during the January transfer window.
The Gunners are understood to be in the market for a midfielder and a striker as they target their first Premier League title in 20 years.Ex-Arsenal star Gilberto Silva has urged the Gunners to be proactive and quick in the transfer market[/caption] Mikel Arteta reportedly wants a new striker and a new midfielder[/caption]
“I’m not sure if it’s 100 per cent going to happen but obviously, they have to be aware that this is a very short window and very specific.
“You have to be like a fisherman sometimes, to grab the right player that you really need that’s going to help you to win games and to be useful for the rest of the season. Also to improve the way you play.
“It’s not about sometimes bringing a player because you need (them).
“Speaking to people there, Edu many times, they are working hard to have the data and what they think is right for the club in terms of targets.
“The market is very competitive as well, sometimes you have to be fast and not lose the opportunity.”
Arsenal midfielder Partey is expected to be unavailable until the new year due to a thigh injury.
However, if he is fit he will likely travel to the Africa Cup of Nations with Ghana.
Gabriel Jesus has also suffered with two significant injury issues this season.
He missed the start of the campaign after having knee surgery and has been absent from the squad for the past month with a hamstring issue.
SunSport revealed that Arsenal wanted to wait until the beginning of December to green-light his return, but the Brazil national team insisted that he travel to South America for international duty last week.
He is now expected to START against Argentina on Tuesday.
