And now the Gunners are considering a move for the 27-year-old, according to The Athletic.

The report suggests Raya would favour a move to the Emirates, where he would link back up with former Bees goalkeeping coach Inaki Cana.

Arsenal have been long-term admirers of the Spaniard, and with his contract set to expire next summer Brentford are prepared to sell for the right price.

Despite the interest, the north London outfit are yet to lodge a bid.

Bayern Munich are also interested in signing Raya, though their preference is understood to be a loan transfer.

Raya’s Premier League experience would make him an invaluable member of Arsenal’s squad, with his proficiency in playing out from the back a particular highlight of his game.

This saw both Manchester United and Tottenham hold talks over his signing earlier in the summer.

But in the end both opted for Andre Onana and Guglielmo Vicario respectively after being quoted a £40million price tag.

It comes with Mikel Arteta looking to sign competition for Aaron Ramsdale.

This is because current No.2 Matt Turner, 29, is being considered for a move of his own by Nottingham Forest.

However, there is said to be some distance between the two sides valuations of the American.

So far Arsenal have splashed out £200m on signing Kai Havertz, Jurrien Timber and Declan Rice – the latter of which arrived for a club record £105m.
