However, goalscoring stats have now shown that Arsene Wenger’s side were incredibly reliant on Thierry Henry’s form in front of goal.

Research from BonusCodeBets.co.uk into the biggest “one-man teams” in the Premier League this century has revealed some surprising results.

The data was produced by analysing every goal scored in the league since 2000.

Arsenal’s 2003/04 side were found to have the highest proportion of goals scored by one player in a title-winning side.

Henry’s 30 league goals accounted for a whopping 41 per cent of the Gunners total tally, with the proportion rising to 60 per cent when paired with Robert Pires’ 14-goal haul.

The French forward came out on top ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo’s 39 per cent contribution for Manchester United in 2007/08 and Erling Haaland last season, with his 36 strikes powering Manchester City to glory.

Elsewhere, Harry Kane was found to have carried his side more than any other player.

The England captain scored at least a quarter of Tottenham’s goals in eight different seasons.

Overall, Kane bagged 213 goals in 317 Premier League appearances before his summer move to Bayern Munich.

Meanwhile, Southampton’s 2002/03 side proved to be the most “one-man team” of all.

James Beattie scored 23 of the Saints’ 43 goals for a 53 per cent contribution as they finished eighth in the top flight.

The research also looked into sides who narrowly avoided relegation from the Premier League this century.

Christian Benteke scored 42 per cent of Aston Villa’s goals in the 2014/15 campaign to save his club from the drop.

His 13 strikes from a total of 31 proved to be the highest proportion that saved a team from relegation as Villa finished just three points above the bottom three.
