ARSENAL are willing to trigger the £50million release clause of Martin Zubimendi, reports suggest.

Zubimendi, 24, rejected an approach from the Gunners last summer.

But Mikel Arteta is keen on the Spaniard and the north Londoners have reportedly not been deterred by this setback.

And Spanish outlet Sport claim Arsenal will move for the Real Sociedad star this month.

He has remained with the club for his entire career, first joining them when he was 12 years old.

However, he is not expected to remain a Sociedad player for much longer and has been tipped for a move either this month or in the summer.

Zubimendi’s current deal expires in 2027, but with a lengthy list of suitors he is not expected to stay for much longer.

Arsenal will face competition from Barcelona to complete any deal.

Therefore, the club who land him may be determined by who activate the clause first.

However, given Arsenal’s need for attacking reinforcements they may opt to wait until the summer before recruiting a new midfielder.

SunSport revealed that Arsenal have made a £22m offer to sign Getafe forward Borja Mayoral after they were priced out of a transfer for Brentford‘s Ivan Toney.

However, Getafe have knocked back their initial offer as they hold out for closer to £39m for their star striker.
