In a statement, AWG confirmed they have cancelled their next show on February 9.

A post on social media read: “We would like to inform you that Asahi, a member of our company, has passed away due to an unexpected accident.

“The Shinkiba performance on February 9th has been cancelled for the time being.

“We will inform you about the future within the next day or two. We would like to express our gratitude to everyone who has supported Asahi so far.”

Wrestling fans have been left in shock following her passing, as one wrote: “A beam of sunshine and happiness always. asahi forever.”

Another added: “‘RIP Asahi, 21 is no age in the slightest. A very sad day for wrestling. Thoughts go out to all her family, friends and fans.”

Asahi’s last match was at AWG’s January 31 event when she teamed up with Yufa to beat Ayano Irie and Kira An, according to The Metro.

She began her wrestling career aged just 14 for the Ice Ribbon promotion.

Asahi would later wrestle for the likes of, Ganbare Pro, DREAM and others across Japan.

She took a break from the ring in 2020 to focus on her schoolwork before returning a year later.

Asahi last year decided to end her contract with Ice Ribbon and joined Actwres girl’Z.
