But Williamson is keeping  tabs ahead of a potential January swoop.

The former Newcastle, Watford and Wolves centre-half is no stranger to the England U19 international.

Marschall, who is also eligible to represent Poland on the national stage, enjoyed two loans spells under Williamson at non-league Gateshead.

He made 19 appearances for the North East side in the 2021/22 campaign to help them win the National League North title.

His displays on Tyneside were also rewarded with a new contract by Villa.

Marschall returned to Gateshead last January for another loan spell.

He made 20 appearances to help them secure survival in the National League with a 14th-place finish.

Marschall stayed at Villa Park this season but made his senior debut for the club on December 14 in the 1-1 draw with Zrinjski Mostar in the Europa Conference League.

And now he is hoping to reunite with Marschall to help his side’s promotion push from League Two.

They are currently sixth in the fourth tier, seven points off the top three, after 23 games.
