ASTON VILLA have allegedly beaten Bayern Munich and Barcelona in the transfer chase for Everton’s Amadou Onana.
The midfielder, 22, has been in Euro 2024 action for Belgium this summer after months of speculation over his future.
Everton’s Amadou Onana is on the verge of completing a move to Aston Villa[/caption]Onana’s displays under Sean Dyche for the Toffees have led to interest from a host of Premier League rivals.
Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle have all been linked with a swoop for him.
German giants Bayern and Spanish big boys Barca were “also known admirers” of Onana.
However, after Belgium were beaten by France in the last-16 of the Euros, the wheels have finally started to turn regarding a transfer move away from Goodison Park.
And The Athletic is now claiming that Villa “are in the process of finalising an agreement with Everton” in a deal worth around £50million.
They state that Unai Emery’s side, who are preparing for Champions League football this term, have agreed personal terms with Onana on a long-term contract.
And the player is also “known to be enthusiastic about playing for the Spaniard”.
Onana moved to Everton in 2022 for £33m from Lille and remains under contract until 2027.

He has since become one of the key men at the club, helping them to secure survival last season despite them eventually ending up with an eight point deduction.
Onana also played an integral role under Dyche’s rescue act in the previous campaign but is set to swap that for Champions League action this term at Villa.
He has made 72 appearances for the Toffees, including 37 last term, in all competitions.
And his former team Lille are also set to receive a cash boost from any potential sale.
This update claims that the “French club are entitled to 20 per cent of the profit made on any sale” thanks a clause in the package that took him to Merseyside two years ago.
His expected arrival will only further strengthen Emery’s options in the midfield.
Villa have already signed 23-year-old Argentina ace Enzo Barrenechea from Juventus.
And they brought Ross Barkley back to the club from Luton Town.
However, they have offloaded two other midfielders over recent weeks.
Douglas Luiz departed for Juventus while Tim Iroegbunam left for Everton.
