Substitute Carney Chukwuemeka restored their advantage as they rallied to beat the Foxes 4-2 in the FA Cup on Sunday.

After the goal, Pearce exclaimed: “You would normally say they have one foot in the semi-final.

“But for Chelsea it’s like one foot on a doormat on a slippery tile floor that’s already coated with water. You never know with them.”

His analogy rapidly went viral on social media as fans reacted to Pearce’s commentary.

One fan wrote on X: “Jonathan Pearce with the most ridiculous analogy I’ve ever heard.”

Another added: “Jonathan Pearce almost getting trapped in an endless simile loop then.”

A third supporter also commented: “Jonathan Pearce what on earth was the commentary.”

Meanwhile, one more said: “Jonathan Pearce has just woken up after a five-year sleep.”

Pearce was joined by former England defender Martin Keown for the quarter-final at Stamford Bridge.

Keown himself had been left shocked by Raheem Sterling’s “ridiculous” free-kick before Chelsea retook the lead.

After being pegged back from 2-0 down, with Axel Disasi scoring a horror own goal, the Blues had looked destined to be taken to extra-time.

However, Chukwuemeka and fellow substitute Noni Madueke both scored in added time to spare their blushes.

Sterling had earlier missed a penalty with the score at 1-0, whilst Callum Doyle was sent off for Leicester during the second half.
