BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2024 betting odds: Luke Littler and Keely Hodgkinson favourites for SPOTY award

LUKE LITTLER and Keely Hodgkinson are joint-favourites to win the 2024 BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award, according to William Hill.

The 71st annual SPOTY awards ceremony will take place in December to celebrate 12 months of sporting action, which includes the European Championships and the Olympics in Paris.

England goalkeeper Mary Earps won the award in 2023, but there will be a new name on the trophy this year with Littler and Hodgkinson the most likely candidates.

Teenage darts sensation Littler, 17, rapidly became a household name when reaching the final of the World Darts Championship in January.

Despite losing to Luke Humphries in the final at Alexandra Palace, Littler soon got his revenge when becoming the youngest Premier League Darts champion in history.

Littler was odds-on favourite for the honour, but there’s been a significant shift in the market after huge support for Great Britain’s Keely Hodgkinson.

Hodgkinson secured a silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics aged just 19, and now looks in prime position for a gold having set a new national 800m record at the London Diamond League over the weekend.

Her odds have been slashed from 10/1 into 3/1 for the SPOTY crown, and they could shift further with her odds currently at 2/5 to win the 800m race in Paris.

Mark Cavendish (5/1) sits in third following his record 35th stage win at the Tour de France.

Justin Rose leads the best of the rest at 13/2, with England football stars Jude Bellingham (12/1) and Harry Kane (25/1) plummeting in the betting since their Euros final defeat.
