Newcastle vs Arsenal betting tips

Cliché alert – this one’s going to be a barnstormer.

Two of the division’s most attacking, front-footed and relentless sides in the division clash under the lights at St James’ Park on Saturday night.

Newcastle are fresh from dismantling Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford with a hugely weakened side, but could really do with maximum points to propel themselves back into top-four contention.

Meanwhile Arsenal are looking for an instant response after exiting the League Cup on whimper. The Gunners lost 3-1 to West Ham, but did make six changes from their win over Sheffield United.

Arsenal had been very tight on the road after recording four-consecutive clean sheets earlier this season, but they’ve now shipped eight in their last four in all competitions and are without talisman Gabriel Jesus in attack.

Yes, Mikel Arteta’s side still boast the second-best defence in the league but they’ve been tested recently and the division’s joint-top scorers should ask some serious questions on Saturday – especially given they’ve netted 2+ goals in six of their last seven.

It could also be a busy evening for left-back Dan Burn. The defender has coincide the third-highest number of fouls in this Newcastle squad, while over 47% of Arsenal’s chances have been created over on the right flank through Bukayo Saka.

The ACCA

Things are starting to motor Carlos Corberan and his West Brom squad. The Baggies are up to fifth in the Championship after a run of four wins in their last six matches.

Much of heir success has been built on solid defensive foundations. They’ve managed seven clean sheets in their last nine and only runaway leaders Leicester have conceded fewer goals this season.

West Brom have also won their last seven home fixtures against Hull, who haven’t won at The Hawthorns since 2008.

We’ll be pairing West Brom with second-placed Ipswich, whose focus is evidently on gaining promotion from the Championship.

Ipswich changed their entire starting 11 for the midweek defeat to Premier League Fulham, but will no doubt return to their strongest XI for this trip to Birmingham.

They’ve won eight of their last nine league fixtures, while Kieran McKenna’s side are unbeaten on the road this year, winning six and conceding just twice.

We think Ipswich will pile the misery on Wayne Rooney, who’s lost his opening three games since arriving at St Andrew’s.

Our third and final selection is for Wolves to beat rock-bottom Sheffield United.

The absence of influential Pedro Neto isn’t ideal, but they should have enough in the tank to beat the Blades, who have taken one point from a possible 30 and have the worst defensive record in the league.

The Banker

Most pundits ran out of superlatives to describe Bernardo Silva’s performance last weekend. The Portuguese magician was running the show, and we expected a similar display on Saturday.

Phil Foden may have created 22 opportunities for his colleagues in the league this season, but Silva has 13 and has actually created more big chances with five in 561 minutes of action.

He’s a bigger price than Foden and we expect him to provide at least one assist in what’s expected to be a rout.

The Longshot

Sean Dyche has built himself a squad of giants, and they are certainly delivering when it comes to set-pieces. Only Arsenal can better Everton’s five goals from set-plays this season, while the Toffees have had a bumper 32 efforts from their 52 corners.

James Tarkowski and Abdoulaye Doucoure are the usual suspects when it comes to attacking those set-plays, but Amadou Onana shouldn’t be forgotten. He’s fired six efforts at goal from set-pieces and got his name on the scoresheet during Wednesday’s win over Burnley.
