A BODYBUILDER has died after collapsing in the shower of a 24-hour gym but wasn’t found for 15 hours.

Giuliano Pirone was training for bodybuilding competition when he fell and suffered a brain injury in a locked shower cubicle of a gym in a northern Perth suburb in Australia on August 20.

He’d gone to the gym before work and was undiscovered until later that night when police barged into cubicle and found him on the floor of a cold-running shower.

He had been on life support at Joondalup hospital for two weeks, but died on Thursday morning.

Giuliano tragically didn’t regained consciousness and an MRI confirmed he had lost brain function.

His heartbroken mother Daniela Pirone told ABC Radio Perth: “I will never look at the Sun, the Moon and the sky the same way again, the light that shone bright has left me.”

Doctors believe Giuliano’s blood sugar levels became low which caused it to drop.

They also say he may have had suffered from a seizure.

His mum said that she started to panic after he didn’t return home or return calls later that day.

The bodybuilder’s family reached out to his friends, ex-wife and people he interacted with daily but no one had heard from him.

Ms Pirone then reported him missing to the police and they were able to track him down via his phone at the gym.

She added: “The police had to barge in, they found him in the shower.

“They thought he was dead.”

Cops then reportedly performed CPR and Giuliano gained consciousness before an ambulance rushed him to hospital.

Ms Pirone has said that 24-hour unstaffed gyms were dangerous and said more needed to be done to check on those using the facilities.

She said: “There should be a check in system, so after two or three hours if they have not checked out staff look around for that person.”

The WA Police have reportedly accessed CCTV from the gym and are to prepare a report for the coroner.
