WILLIE MULLINS is odds-on with Paddy Power to train more Cheltenham Festival winners than Britain COMBINED.
The genius Irish trainer – who sadly lost his mum yesterday – is set to smash the 100 Festival-winner mark next month.
His horses, which include the likes of huge Gold Cup favourite Galopin Des Champs and Supreme Novices’ Hurdle hotshot Ballyburn, dominate the markets.
But could his dominance be such that he picks up more trophies than all of Britain’s best?
Don’t forget, this includes the likes of Paul Nicholls, Nicky Henderson and Dan Skelton.
It might seem fanciful but, incredibly, Paddy Power make Mullins just 4-5 to do it.
The British battallion will be headed by the likes of Constitution Hill in the Champion Hurdle and Sir Gino in the Triumph.
Dysart Enos is a strong fancy for the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle for Fergal O’Brien, while Ginny’s Destiny is vying for favouritism in the Turners’ Novices’ Chase.
Langer Dan is 8-1 joint-favourite for the Coral Cup while Stage Star and Stay Away Fay are up there for the Ryanair and Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase respectively.
But the odds compilers fancy Mullins to make a complete and total mockery of the British challenge.
Paddy Power spokesman Paul Binfield said: “Fierce debates ensued in the pubs of Dublin after Willie completed a clean sweep of the eight top-level events at the Dublin Racing Festival about whether his dominance is good for the game.
“Whatever the answer to that conundrum, the Closutton conjuror is an amazing odds-on to train more winners than all of the British trainers combined at the Cheltenham Festival!”
