The German outfit won the reverse fixture at St James’ Park a fortnight ago.

The result saw Dortmund jump above the Magpies in Group F after Felix Nmecha’s solo strike in the match.

It was the first time that Newcastle suffered defeat in the Champions League this season.

Eddie Howe‘s side have collected four points in the tournament, having drawn against AC Milan at the San Siro and beat PSG in a 3-0 home romp.

Back in the Premier League, Newcastle have remained unbeaten since the loss to Dortmund.

Last time out, they earned a big win over Arsenal after a controversial goal from Anthony Gordon.

The German outfit, on the other hand, have recently been hammered in Der Klassiker against Bayern Munich.

Harry Kane bagged himself a hat-trick and Dayot Upamacano grabbed the other goal in the 4-0 thrashing.

The loss has left Edin Terzic’s side seven points off the top of the Bundesliga and five points behind Bayern.

With both sides on four points in the group, the winners would gain a massive boost in their hopes of making it to the next round.

There will be eyes on the other match in the group as PSG take on AC Milan in Italy.

The French giants are top of the group by two points, and a win for them would almost guarantee them entry to the round of 16.

However, should Dortmund and Newcastle draw and AC Milan win, then the group would be blown wide open going into the final two games.

It will be Newcastle’s first taste of the Signal Iduna Park and the famous yellow wall made up of Dortmund’s fans.

Newcastle have bounced back from the defeat to Dortmund in fantastic style.

The Magpies did draw their first game after the defeat to Wolves after a late equaliser at the Molineux.

But since then, Howe’s team have thrashed Manchester United in the Carabao Cup and beaten Arsenal in the league.

The Magpies exacted revenge on United for their defeat in the cup final last season.

In their last match, they picked up three points against the Gunners despite many complaints about referee decisions from manager Mikel Arteta.

Dortmund, however, have won once in their three games since the win at St James’ Park.

They drew 3-3 against Eintracht Frankfurt and then narrowly beat ten-man Hoffenheim.

This was then followed by the heavy defeat to Bayern at the Signal Iduna Park.

What is the team news?

Dan Burn picked up an injury against Arsenal[/caption]

The hosts will likely be without former Liverpool midfielder Emre Can as he continues to struggle with a hip injury.

Dortmund’s Julian Duranville and Matu Morey will remain unavailable for the visit of Newcastle on tonight.

Eddie Howe will be without local lad Dan Burn after he went off at halftime against Arsenal with a back injury.

The manager has since confirmed that the defender has suffered a a back injury and will be out for some time.

Tuesday night’s game is likely to come too soon for forward Alexander Isaka as he continues to recover from a groin problem.

Long-term absentees Matt Targett, Harvey Barnes and Sven Botman will all miss the trip to Germany.

Who will be the star men?

Eyes will be on Newcastle ace Anthony Gordon after his winning goal against Arsenal.

The winger has found his feet this season since his big-money move from Everton in January.

Gordon has netted regularly in the Premier League with four goals.

He has also set up two goals for his team-mates.

The England U21 international has featured three times in the Champions League and is yet to score or assist.

Gordon would love to grab his first goal in European competition against the German outfit.

For Dortmund, their star man will likely be club icon Marco Reus.

The forward has netted three goals in eight Bundesliga games so far this season.

The German has stayed at the club despite seeing star team-mates leave for pastures new, such as Ilkay Gundogan, Jude Bellingham, Erling Haaland and Robert Lewandowski.

Like Gordon, he is yet to get off the mark in the Champions League this season and a goal from him tonight could help Dortmund progress to the next round.

What have the managers said?

Eddie Howe is hoping for a win[/caption]

Eddie Howe has suggested that Newcastle may change the way they play against Dortmund after the defeat last time out.

He said: “Looking back to the first game against Dortmund is a useful exercise but it’s not definitive because they may change the way they play and we may change the way we play.

“I think it was two evenly balanced teams going against each other – that game could have gone either way. Of course, we hit the woodwork a couple of times late on in the match.

“I think the players have a good idea of what to expect.

“They are a top team and they’ve got players who can hurt us so I think there’s full respect from us but, hopefully, we can get the fine margins on our side this time.”

Edin Terzic is expecting a tough match against Newcastle[/caption]

Edin Terzic has insisted that he and his team are aware of the Magpies’ qualities as he praised the team ahead of the clash.

He said: “We know their qualities. We found out two weeks ago how good they are.

“Newcastle came out of the starting blocks just as we expected: very bravely, very aggressively, with very high pressing.

“Nevertheless, we stood up to them from the first whistle.

“In the first half, we played really well, both going forward and in defence.”
