Rodgers was all smiles after his team raced into a three-goal lead at a soggy Hamden Park.

But his glee quickly turned to embarrassment as he stacked it in the pouring Glasgow rain.

The 51-year-old took a wild swipe at the ball as it dribbled in front of the dugouts in first-half stoppage time.

Rodgers bizarrely smashed the ball back into play, despite Celtic‘s comfortable 3-0 lead.

He flew into the air and crashed back to the floor, prompting huge cheers from both sets of fans.

Unfortunately for Rodgers, he was swiftly booked by laughing referee Kevin Clancy for kicking the ball away.

Following the game, Rodgers was shown the clip by Premier Sports and laughed: “That’s poor!

“It was just the game. I wanted us to play that fraction quicker.

“Even though we were comfortable in the game at 3-0, it’s still the performance I’m looking for.

“But listen, I deserved the yellow card.”

Cameron Carter-Vickers, Kyogo Furuhashi and Daizen Maeda all bagged for the Bhoys before the break.

Maeda would go on to seal a hat-trick in the rout, with Nicolas-Gerrit Kuhn also on the scoresheet.

Celtic will face either Rangers or Motherwell in the final.

Rodgers added: “We have to manage this group through every game.

“It was up to us to decide the game and the players did that. They were brilliant today.

“We were more aggressive in the second half.”
