SIMON ADINGRA’S stunning header rescued a point for Brighton against relegation-scrapping Burnley.

The Clarets were rewarded for a gut-busting defensive display with a delicious 45th-minute opening strike from Wilson Odobert.

It was only the French forward’s second Premier League goal and has given Burnley a glimmer of hope after just one win in their last nine games across all competitions.

Adingra saved the Seagulls on 77 minutes with an equaliser and they pecked away at Burnley but just could not break down hero goalkeeper James Trafford

The England Under-21 stopper produced a string of heroic saves to deny Brighton a second and he alone deserves to travel back to Lancashire with a point.

Brighton looked discombobulated after Roberto De Zerbi’s SIX changes to the side that beat Brentford midweek.

And Burnley made the most of it early on with Johan Gudmundsson curling a warning shot just wide.

Seagulls stopper Bart Vebruggen then got away with one after flapping at a cross under pressure from Jay Rodriguez, but the ball slipped away to safety.

The hosts zipped it up the other end and Charlie Taylor slid in to prevent what looked like a certain goal from Adingra before more heroics from Trafford.

James Milner fired agonisingly wide with a long-range effort, much to the relief of his old pal Vincent Kompany who he shared some unforgettable times with during five years at the Etihad.

Burnley continued to batten down the hatches and Jordan Beyer made a superb block to stop anyone getting on the end of another slick Adingra cross.

Out of nowhere, French teenager Odobert picked up the ball on the left, nipped inside three Brighton shirts and curled a delicious strike into the top corner on the stroke of half-time.

Roberto De Zerbi had seen enough and at the break, hoiked Mahmoud Dahoud and Adam Lallana off for Kaoru Mitoma and Billy Gilmour to try make a difference.

It was Burnely who nearly nicked another one as a pinball in the box saw Odober’s twinkle toes feeding Rodriguez, who forced Verbruggen into a double save.

Here are the stats from the match

A bit of Mitoma magic was sprinkled on the match as he curled a peach of a strike just over the crossbar.

The Japan winger then teed up Evan Ferguson with a blistering run, but the striker lost his footing.

Trafford saved the visitor’s skins as he ran out and produced a jaw-dropping save on an Adingra shot smack bang in front of goal.

There was a subsequent corner but Burnley mopped up the damage before VAR reviewed it for a possible Taylor handball but quickly waved the shouts away.

Brighton dominated the second half

Brighton were building, they just needed another sniff at goal.

Of course, Gross was at the beating heart of it with a pucker cross to Adingra who headed home the leveller.

Gross put everything on the line and whipped a menacing free-kick just over the crossbar in the dying moments.

Trafford leapt like a cat to keep out at a rasping Jack Hinshelwood header before Billy Gilmour came inches away from scoring.
