O’Riley has penned a five-year deal through to 2029 with the Seagulls after two years at Celtic.

His arrival takes Brighton’s summer spending to £200million as their eighth signing.

Fabian Hurzeler’s spending spree is set to continue this week too with the imminent arrival of Turkey international Ferdi Kadioglou.

The O’Riley deal sees Celtic receive 20 times what they paid for O’Riley in 2022.

He signed from MK Dons for just £1.5million, having started his career with Fulham.

During his time at Celtic Park, the 23-year-old scored 27 goals and provided 35 assists in 124 appearances.

He has also won two caps for Denmark after switching his international allegiance from England.

O’Riley played for the Three Lions at youth level after being born in London.

However, he is eligible for Denmark through his mum, but did miss out on a place in their Euro 2024 squad.

He arrives at the Amex fresh from winning Celtic’s Player of the Year award last season as they won their third league title in a row.

As for Brighton, the Seagulls have made a winning start to the campaign with two wins from two matches.

Saturday’s late win over Manchester United leaves Hurzeler’s side second ahead of this weekend’s trip to Arsenal.
