Veltman, 31, got a little too carried away as he chucked his match shirt into the crowd.

However, he was left red-faced after remembering that it still had the GPS tracker attached to it.

This meant that his tracking data could not be downloaded, leaving the club to post an unusual heatmap for his performance against Forest.

The club shared the image on social media with the caption “If you know, you know”, hinting at Veltman’s mishap.

The image showed a completely blank pitch map without any heat markers as to where Veltman played.

Fans found the post funny as they flocked to the comment section.

One fan joked: “An urgent blood test on the man.”

A second commented: “Tweet of the day.”

A third wrote: “Lmao has he got it back yet?”

A fourth said: “Great post this.”

Another added: “I’m just thinking about how the GPS from Veltman’s shirt is gonna reveal someone’s house…”

Luckily for Veltman, the shirt was returned to him by the club supporter Patrick Matthews.

The defender gifted the fan with a new signed shirt as a way of saying thank you.

What Veltman’s heat map did look like

Patrick revealed that he realised that he had the GPS tracker while at a curry house in Kings’ Cross.

The match itself was also full of drama as Brighton won 3-2 at the City Ground.

England international Lewis Dunk saw red having received two bookings in 12 seconds.

The defender’s dismissal was the first of its kind in 15 years as he was shown a straight red for “offensive, insulting or abusive language” and will be punished with a two-match ban.

Veltman joined Brighton from Ajax in 2020 for a cut-price fee.

The Dutchman has gone on to become a reliable player for the club, racking up 101 Premier League appearances.
