Bukayo Saka posts defiant response after Arsenal star denied last-gasp penalty in Bayern Munich clash

ARSENAL winger Bukayo Saka took to social media with a cryptic message after he was denied a last-minute penalty against Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old was left furious after his penalty claims were dismissed in the final seconds of the match.

Saka went to ground in the box after clashing with Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

But referee Glenn Nyberg blew the full-time whistle with the score level at 2-2.

Arsenal players and fans were left furious as a result, with Saka approaching the referee after the match.

The England international later took to social media to share his frustration with a cryptic message.

On his Instagram story, he simply posted two angry face emojis.

Former referee Mark Halsey claims he was surprised by the decision not to award Arsenal a penalty.

He told SunSport: “Some will say that Bukayo Saka initiated the contact, but Manuel Neuer stuck out his leg.

“I was surprised Glenn Nyberg did not award Arsenal a penalty in real time at the end.

“Bayern Munich could have no complaints if it was given, they got away with one. Munich were very lucky.

“It is subjective, so maybe that is why VAR did not get involved. Had it been given, the decision would not have changed.”

Saka opened the scoring in the 12th minute, but Bayern Munich levelled through Serge Gnabry six minutes later.

Harry Kane then fired the visitors ahead from the penalty spot before half-time.

But Leandro Trossard scored an equaliser in the 76th minute.

After the match, Mikel Arteta said: “In the Champions League you cannot give anything to the opponent and we gave them two goals today.

“When you have this situation you are going to be punished. And that is the biggest lesson.

“The margins are very small in this competition and it is really difficult to create quality chances against this level of opposition.

“But I think the team showed a lot of composure, especially after 2-1 – you can throw your toys away and give your opponents a lot of space but we haven’t done that and the substitutes made a huge impact.

“I sense the belief among the ­players that we are going to go to Munich next week and be better.”
