CESC FABREGAS is ready to fight David Beckham’s Inter Miami to make Raphael Varane his “dream” signing at Como 1907.
The French World Cup winner, 31, is a free agent having left Old Trafford at the end of the season.
Raphael Varane is wanted by Como as he plots his next move[/caption] Cesc Fabregas helped Como to win promotion to Serie A last season[/caption]He spent three years with the Red Devils having joined them from Real Madrid and won both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup but his time there was severely disrupted by injury.
We reported how Beckham’s MLS side were keen to make the centre-half him their latest big-name acquisition.
That would see him join Barcelona legends Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Jordi Alba at the Florida club.
However, after Varane produced a masterclass in last month’s FA Cup Final victory over Man City, he now reportedly has a new club chasing his signature.
Arsenal and Chelsea legend Fabregas, 37, played a key role in helping Como to return to Serie A after a 21-year absence last season.
The Spaniard was firstly caretaker manager and was then No.2 to Osian Roberts as they won promotion.
Now he is targeting bringing in the experienced defender to help them stay up.
That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who states Fabregas views Varane as his ‘dream’ signing but added how it may be hard to entice him to Italy.

Varane has still not made any decision regarding his future.
But he does have a host of teams from Europe and Saudi Arabia after him as well as Inter Miami.
Prior to United, the former Lens ace spent a decade at Real Madrid.
He enjoyed huge success there, winning three LaLiga titles, four Champions Leagues, one Copa del Rey, three Spanish Super Cups, three Uefa Super Cups and four Club World Cups.
Varane has also had great success on the international stage, helping France to World Cup glory in 2018.
But he has struggled with injuries in recent seasons and started just 16 Premier League games in the 2023/24 campaign with United.
Varane won 93 caps for his country in total.
But the star announced his international retirement after France’s penalty shootout defeat to Argentina in the 2022 World Cup Final in Qatar.
After his Man Utd departure was announced, he said: “It’s been an amazing few years to play for this special club and wearing that shirt.
“The first time I went to Old Trafford as a Manchester United player was insane, the atmosphere was amazing.
“When the fans go to Wembley it’s something they remember for life. To share that moment with them was absolutely amazing.
“Despite the fact we had a difficult season, I’m very positive for the future. The new owners are coming with a clear plan and a great strategy.”
