CHELSEA have suffered a huge transfer blow after Napoli confirmed Victor Osimhen has signed a new contract.

The Nigerian, 24, earned legendary status last season at the Italian club with his exploits up front.

The Nigerian striker has penned a contract extension until 2026[/caption]

He played an instrumental role in Napoli ending their 33-year wait for the Serie A title.

Osimhen scored 26 goals in 32 top-flight matches and has continued that red-hot form this term despite several controversies.

The hotshot was linked with a host of Europe’s biggest clubs over the summer as both Manchester United and Chelsea chased his signature.

After a move failed to materialise, the Premier League duo and rivals Arsenal were then put on red alert after a controversial TikTok post left the player contemplating SUING his employers back in September.

Then it emerged that Chelsea were leading the race to try and sign him – despite Napoli working hard to secure their talisman to a new long-term deal.

Now the Blues may have to wait a little longer to get the striker after he finally penned an extension.

Napoli confirmed the news on social media with a post that was captioned with “together until 2026” and a picture of Osimhen and club president Aurelio De Laurentiis sitting in front of them.

But the forward celebrated that news by getting sent-off as his team were beaten 2-0 at Roma on Saturday night.

However, despite the extension being confirmed, we reported previously how Chelsea are confident over their top transfer target.

A report stated that even with a hefty £112m release clause, the Blues still aim to secure him with boss Mauricio Pochettino desperate to add firing power to his frontline.

And they are prepared to wait until the summer to launch a move.
