On MOTD the England legends revealed what other clubs need to do to break down Man City just like how Chelsea did on Sunday afternoon.

The football highlights programme looked at the City’s next three fixtures Liverpool (H), Tottenham (H) and Aston Villa (A).

All three teams are within three points from frontrunners City.

Asked whether these teams will have a go at beating Man City in their upcoming games Shearer said they will but they will need to have courage.

The Newcastle icon said: “Well I think we know they will.

“If you’re prepared to be brave, then you’re going to have to take your chances. You get chances, you’ll get success.”

Wright quickly chipped in to reveal what is the best way to get at Pep Guardiola‘s side.

The ex-Arsenal star said: “You need players playing really well, as Alan mentioned.

“And then you gotta keep it going Chappers because City will just keep going, keep doing what they’re doing, they wear you down.

“But you’ve got to try and wear them down.”

Chelsea performed exactly just that on Sunday afternoon’s Premier League clash.

Mauricio Pochettino‘s side currently sit 10th in the Premier League with 16 points, starting the season with four wins, four draws and four losses in their opening 12 games.

But their best games have been against the table’s top contenders.

Chelsea have drawn against Arsenal, Liverpool and now City plus beating Tottenham 4-1 last week.

Meanwhile, Poch’s side struggle to break down the defence of the teams outside the top six who do not give them a lot of space to run for the goal.

As seen in their 3-1 misery to West Ham, 2-0 loss to Brentford and 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest.
