A first-half horror show in Indiana, saw Enzo Maresca‘s side fall two goals down in just over half an hour – heading in at the break with the scoreline at 2-0.

The opener came from Matt O’Riley, who found himself completely unmarked in the box and was able to poke one home past Robert Sanchez.

While Kyogo Furuhashi doubled Celtic‘s lead just 14 minutes later after a shocking defensive display from Chelsea.

Despite having five defenders in the box, The Blues were left motionless as O’Riley played a simple pass across the face of goal for Kyogo to tap into the back of the net.

While second half goals from Luis Palmer and Michael Johnson added insult to their first half display.

A late penalty from Christopher Nkunku saw the match end in a 4-1 embarrassment for Chelsea.

The efforts from Maresca’s side prompted Chelsea fans to rage online, with many struggling to believe what they were seeing from their team.

One wrote: “I hope the season never starts. Chelsea curse is very much active”.

While another added: “Our defence doesn’t exist. Chelsea are making Celtic look like prime Barcelona.”

A third fumed: “What happened to my team?!”

And a fourth slammed: “Chelsea won’t even make the top 10 in the Premier League this season.”

It’s been a shaky pre-season already with disappointing results coming before their first half performance against Celtic.

The Stamford Bridge outfit already drew 2-2 with newly promoted League One club Wrexham, needing an 82nd minute equaliser to walk away with anything.

And expectations had been high for the season ahead with new boss Maresca coming in to replace Mauricio Pochettino.

Chelsea struggled in the Premier League last term, finishing sixth and winning just 18 of their 38 games.
