The striker spent the second half of last season on loan at Forest Green but failed to score in 12 League One appearances.

Fiabema signed for the Blues in 2019 from Norwegian side Tromso IL.

But he is now set for a new chapter with Champions League side Real Sociedad on the verge of finalising a deal, reports Fabrizio Romano.

Fiabema was available on a free transfer following his release by Chelsea.

The 20-year-old became Chelsea’s first signing after their transfer ban was lifted in 2019.

He performed well on trial and joined the club’s academy, but failed to make an impression on Frank Lampard so was never called up to the first team.

Fiabema is set to follow other players out of the academy exit door including Tudor Mendel and Henry Lawrence, who have joined Anderlecht and Standard Liege respectively.

It has been a summer of change at Stamford Bridge with eleven first-team players leaving the club.

Mason Mount, Kai Havertz and Mateo Kovacic are amongst the most high-profile exits, with N’Golo Kante, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Cesar Azpilicueta also departing.

However Chelsea have rejected a £40m bid for Conor Gallagher from West Ham.

And they could be set to upgrade their midfield with the signing of Moises Caicedo, though the Blues are yet to match his £100m asking price.
