Chelsea ‘willing to sanction Conor Gallagher transfer’ if Tottenham meet Todd Boehly’s price tag for England star

CHELSEA will let Conor Gallagher join Tottenham, reports suggest.

Spurs have been the busiest team in the opening days of the January window, bringing in Timo Werner on loan and striking a deal to sign Genoa defender Radu Dragusin for £30million after he snubbed Bayern Munich.

Gallagher has become a key player for Chelsea this season

However, Ange Postecoglou‘s spending spree is seemingly not over, with a new midfielder still being targeted.

Blues star Gallagher is top of this list.

But he will only be allowed to join them if Spurs meet Chelsea‘s hefty price tag.

According to The Independent, that figure could be up to £50m.

An added complication to the deal is Gallagher becoming a key part of Chelsea’s midfield under Mauricio Pochettino.

Gallagher has worn the Blues armband for much of the season, with captain Reece James and vice captain Ben Chilwell out injured.

His tigerish style of play has allowed him to add some steel to an otherwise lighweight Chelsea midfield.

Indeed, Opta data has determined that the 23-year-old is the best all-round midfielder in Europe’s top five leagues.

That means Pochettino would be letting go of one of his most reliable assets in an unsteady season if he were to be sold.

But Chelsea chiefs have Financial Fair Play to take consideration of following a £1billion splurge on transfers since Todd Boehly took over, hence why Gallagher is available on the market.

Chelsea lost 1-0 during their midweek trip to Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup semi-final first-leg, with the second leg commencing on January 23.

Before that they host Fulham on Saturday as the Premier League enters it’s “winter break” period where only half of the teams play on a given weekend – the 12th and 14th and 20th and 22nd of January.

Meanwhile, Spurs visit Manchester United on Sunday’s late kick off.
