Rachael Blackmore lit up a gloomy Prestbury Park when she got Slade Steel up to win the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle – although eagle-eyed ITV viewers clocked the glaring error they made in the seconds following victory.
Gaelic Warrior then rubbished any doubts about his jumping with a devastating victory in the Arkle.
The better had both of those so it was onto the fancied Chianti Classico to keep it rolling in the Ultima.
The David Bass-trained chaser won at 13-2 before the banker double of State Man and Lossiemouth won the Champion Hurdle and Mares’ Hurdle respectively.
By this time the cash out on the bet had rocketed to a big £5,103.10.
It was at this point it’s claimed the punter decided to take the money and run.

Agonisingly, had they kept the bet going in its entirety they would have won a monstrous £181,995.59.
Hindsight is a beautiful thing and a £5,000 win is absolutely nothing to be sniffed at.

One social media user said ‘that sleep tonight is going to be hell’.
While another posted: “I wonder how this one punter is still feeling today.”
Day one was a gift for punters with a number of Cheltenham fans scooping big payouts.
This one bettor went bonkers scooping £11,000 from a £10 free bet.
