They bet £10 on Aston Villa and Manchester United to win, have the most corners in each half and most shots on target in their clashes on Wednesday.

The punter got odds of 200/1 for Unai Emery’s in-form side to achieve that against treble-winning Manchester City, along with 40/1 on the Red Devils against Chelsea.

Was it a nail-biting wait as the seconds ticked away? Not really…

When the half-time whistle blew, United had registered seven shots on target, had five corners and were drawing 1-1.

It was a similar story for the Villans, who blew City away with their first-half display with four shots on target, three corners and the score level at 0-0.

Our lucky punter must have been expecting a big reaction from the champions, but it never arrived.

Pep Guardiola’s side failed to fire a single shot on goal, take a corner or score a goal in the second half.

Meanwhile Leon Bailey’s deflected effort was enough to take the spoils for Aston Villa.

Chelsea didn’t manage a shot on target either, and their four corners were bested by United’s seven.

Midfielder Scott McTominay then bagged his second of the evening in the 69th minute to claim maximum points for Erik ten Hag’s side.

It’ll be a very merry Christmas indeed for this Betfair user!
