CHELSEA star Cole Palmer stunned Sky Sports Monday Night Football’s interviewer with his brutal advice to hat-trick hero Nicolas Jackson.

The pulsating London derby topped the list for drama and controversy with Spurs receiving two red cards while there were five disallowed goals and a whole new string of VAR debates.

Spurs were reduced to nine men in the 55th minute but bravely held out until 75 minutes when Jackson made it 2-1.

Their high line, which boss Ange Postecoglou vowed to keep using even if he only had five players, was exposed two more times in the dying stages as Jackson made them pay.

The 22-year-old striker, who has been criticised for his finishing abilities since his £32m arrival from Villarreal in the summer, went on to get two more in added time to seal a hat-trick and double his tally for the campaign.

But as he and team-mate Palmer, who has also recently joined from Manchester City and got on the scoresheet with a first half penalty, faced the media, the interviewer was left in shock.

Palmer, 21, was asked about Jackson and said: “It’s been a difficult start for him, no hiding it, but he was brilliant tonight.

“He just needs to keep his head down and work harder in training and he will get many more hat-tricks.”

The stunned interviewer then replied: “You say work harder?”

To which Cole said: “Of course. You can always work harder.”

Jackson then jumped in and said: “Always need to improve, always need to work harder. We continue working.

“Now this is past, so we forget about it and move forward.”

Senegalese ace Jackson, who has been guilty of squandering a number of chances throughout his 13 appearances for Chelsea this term, also added: “I am very happy and it has been a difficult time for everybody in the team.

“We are coming back really slowly and happy to have scored three goals.

“It’s my first hat-trick, so I am happy to have done it with the biggest club in England and everywhere.

“We were dreaming about winning the big games and the confidence within the team is coming really slowly.”
