LUKE LITTLER has been accused of “throwing it away” in his final leg against Luke Humphries in the Swiss Darts Trophy in Basel.

Littler was taking on old foe Humphries in the third round when he set up Cool Hand Luke for a chance to advance with the score 5-3 in the first-to-six leg match.

The Nuke had little chance of advancing with Humphries already in a great position in the match’s eighth leg.

And when faced with the prospect of clawing back 209 points, compared to Humphries’ 40, Littler was unable to add any pressure on his oppenent.

In fact, his first two darts amassed just 25 points total and the youngster seemed to know that he had no chance of winning from that point.

The 17-year-old seemingly laughed at his sub-par efforts before aiming for a bullseye in a lacklustre throw at the cork.

PDC’s match commentator even suggested that Littler had acted out of frustration, saying: “Luke Littler can’t land a blow.

“Throws away his last dart in frustration and it might be the last dart he throws.”

While darts fans watching on from home seemed to come to a similar conclusion.

One wrote: “Strange last leg there from Littler, he just gave up”.

And another added: “Littler just threw that one away at 3-3….”.

Littler had suggested earlier this week that his new darts were causing him a bit of trouble – perhaps something he was dealing with again against Humphries.

Speaking after his 6-3 victory over Bruno ‘The Beast’ Stockli, the three-time TV title winner said: “Everyone knows my new darts only came out a few days ago.

“I tried them out and at one point I was debating whether to switch and go back to my old ones because of the crowd, they were obviously on his [Stockli’s] side.

“I just had to find my shots and the 145 [checkout] really done it for me.

“The darts are all the same, it’s just the gold grooves on the barrel. I think it went well tonight.”

Littler will now have to sit out the rest of the tournament with Humphries advancing through to the fourth round to face Josh Rock.

Meanwhile, Humphries hilariously hit back at a troll who made a crude comment about his fiancee Kayley.

Cool Hand Luke made sure he wasn’t shaken up by what the hater had said online, delivering a witty comeback to shut down any abuse.

Humphries, 29, had taken to X to explain his shocking 6-3 loss to Mervyn King in the Players Championship earlier in the week.

He explained that a hectic schedule had left him “exhausted” for the clash which saw him put up an uncharacteristically bad average of 79.

He wrote: “Absolutely exhausted mate, it’s been almost two weeks of being away and playing consistently, and I got another eight days of it to come! Just one of those tired performances!”

A nice back and forth with a supportive fan was then spoiled by a fan who joked about Humphries’ fiancee while the thrower is away on tour.

They wrote: “I’ll stay at home with Kayley while you two are out ******* each other”.

The horrendous reply was swiftly dealt with by Humphries, who hit back: “If you could cut the grass, do the hoovering, and hang out the washing while you’re there I’d really appreciate it.”
