CONOR MCGREGOR has well and truly shut down UFC fans’ claims to have figured out the injury he’s nursing.

The Irishman was forced to pull out of his comeback clash with Michael Chandler – which was due to headline UFC 303 on June 29 – last week with an undisclosed injury.

Speculation among MMA fans started after this pic, with fans claiming the Irishman suffered a cut above his left eye – which was why he was wearing sun glasses in this shot[/caption]

Speculation is rife over the nature of the former two-division champion’s injury, which some fight fans believe they sussed out last weekend.

Scores of MMA fans claimed on social media that the Dubliner has suffered an eye injury after seeing him wear sunglasses on Father’s Day.

They believed the superstar suffered a cut above his left eye, despite one not being visible in the slightest.

But he’s rubbished those suggestions in his latest Instagram post, which documented a movie night he had with his fiancee Dee Devlin at his Black Forge Inn pub in Dublin.

A bald McGregor donned black Versace sunglasses in most of the photos, although he didn’t in a snap of himself holding a pint of his Forged Irish Stout.

And it was clear to see there were no lacerations or bruising near the left eye of The Notorious.

His accompanying caption for the post read: “The Black Forge Inn: Movie Night! Huge success!

“A good classic Irish movie made by John Connoers on the reel this evening, went a treat!

CONOR MCGREGOR has been forced out of his long-awaited UFC return due to injury – but a new date for his return is already in the works.

Injury befell the Irishman just days before he was due to head out to Las Vegas for his UFC 303 clash with Michael Chandler and he was forced to withdraw from a fight for the first time in his career.

But the former two-weight champion won’t be out of action for too long and the UFC brass are already looking at new dates for his return.

Two dates are currently in play for the long overdue Return of the Mac.

SunSport understands August 31 and September 14 are the dates currently being explored for the fan favourite’s comeback.

A September return is more likely as the UFC already have a pay-per-view card pencilled in for Sin City’s brand-spanking-new Sphere.

But the brass could decide to hold a second PPV event in August to ensure McGregor’s return takes place in the summer.

McGregor, 35, hasn’t set foot inside the octagon since breaking his left leg in his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier in July 2021.

“‘The Black Guelph’ check it out.”

McGregor, 35, hasn’t set foot inside the octagon since breaking his left leg in his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier nearly three years ago.

SunSport understands the injury he suffered isn’t severe and that UFC have earmarked August 31 as a potential date for the Return of the Mac.

McGregor was devastated to have had his do-or-die comeback fight scuppered by injury but has vowed to return to the octagon in double quick time.

He wrote on Instagram: “Very tough to be ruled out of my scheduled return bout.

“I picked up an injury prior to the press conference that required more time to heal than was available to me.

“The decision to postpone the fight was not made lightly, but one made in consultation with my doctors, the UFC, and my team.

“My fans and opponent deserve me at my best for this fight and we will get there!

“Thank you for the messages of support, I am in good spirits and confident I’ll be back!”
