Khabib won all 29 of his professional bouts, stunning fans with his sleek style of sparring.

But Khabib shocked the fighting world when he announced his retirement three years ago.

The ace called it a day after beating UFC star Justin Gaethje.

After retiring, he moved into full-time training and promoting.

But he stepped away entirely from MMA earlier this year to “devote more time to his family.”

And Khabib has now revealed Dana White tried everything in his power to seal a return.

It’s no secret that fans were desperate to see Khabib in a rematch against McGregor.

The Irishman was defeat by submission in 2018 as Khabib successfully defended his Lightweight Championship.

And UFC boss White offered the Russian a mind-boggling $40million (£32.7m) to return to the octagon.

Spilling the beans to Daniel Cormier, Khabib said: “When you’re the best fighter in the world, when you’re strong enough, when you’re famous, it’s very hard to say no to all these things.

“It’s very hard, it’s not easy. It’s not easy just saying no to 20, 30, 40 million dollars.

“But for myself, it’s not everything. This is not most important. It was not an easy decision.

“But if I decide, I decide, it’s finished. I leave this alone, I’m happy and I never regret my decision, never.”
