CRISTIANO RONALDO’S Al-Nassr are set to move into a brand new 45,000-seater stadium courtesy of the Saudi Arabian state.

The Riyadh-based side currently play at Al-Awwal Park, which has a capacity of just 25,000.

But they are set for an upgrade after the Gulf state unveiled elaborate plans for a brand new 45,000-seater stadium.

Saudi Arabia intend to use the new arena, which will be named the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium, for the 2034 World Cup, and hope it will be ready by 2030.

Saudi have not been confirmed as the official hosts of the tournament yet but they remain the sole bidder following Australia’s withdrawal.

The state-of-the-art ground features plans for a retractable roof and a giant LED wall that features hundreds of metres of screens that will open out on to views below the ground.

A man-made lake will also be built underneath the stadium, which will be erected on top of a 200-metre cliff.

The stadium will be designed by Populous – the architectural firm responsible for building the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Saudi Public Investment Fund is financing the construction through the Qiddiya Investment Company.

They announced the plans saying: “The futuristic venue aims to reinvent the traditional stadium concept.

“The lake will use rainwater capture from the stadium and the surrounding area to precool the air conditioning system.”

Al-Nassr will share the stadium with Riyadh neighbours Al-Hilal.
