CONOR MCGREGOR has held talks with the UFC over his long-awaited octagon return just days after blasting the promotion.
The MMA superstar is itching to return to the cage following a painstaking rehab after breaking his leg two-and-a-half years ago.
McGregor, 35, was seemingly on course to headline UFC 300 on April 13 after it was confirmed he would not fight Michael Chandler this year, although Dana White recently poured cold water on that notion.
That sparked a blistering ringside blast after Anthony Joshua‘s stoppage of Otto Wallin in Saudi Arabia last weekend, although the Irishman has since held talks with MMA mogul White over his protracted cage comeback.
White revealed on Wednesday night: “We talked tonight. I’m in Abu Dhabi, he’s in Dubai.
“We’re gonna figure something out. We’re talking.”
McGregor emotionally pleaded with the UFC brass to finalise his comeback before watching Tyson Fury‘s crossover clash with former heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou in November.
And an apparent lack of movement on his return prompted the Dubliner to go scorched earth on the powers that be.
He told talkSPORT: “The lads in the UFC aren’t really talking any, but the lads here [in Saudi Arabia] are talking Manny [Pacquiao].
“The UFC aren’t talking any.

“Give me something. I was supposed to be back in April, I was supposed to be back in December.”
“No one has ever been treated [the way I’m getting treated].
“For all the figures I’ve brought in this game, I sell more than all of them combined.
“I sell more than everyone of them combined.
“No one in the history of the fight game has ever been treated the way I’ve been getting treated at the minute.
“From what I came to what I bring. They should open the f***ing floodgates for me.”
Former two-division champion McGregor hasn’t set foot inside the octagon since snapping his left leg in his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier in July 2021.
The UFC’s poster boy hasn’t tasted victory since January 2020, when he decimated Donald Cerrone in a mere 40 seconds in their Sin CIty showdown.
