DAVID MOYES is still pushing to sign James Ward-Prowse despite West Ham’s threat to walk away from a deal.

The Hammers have seen two bids rejected by Southampton for the midfielder, with the East Londoners reluctant to go above £25million.

Southampton, however, value their captain at close to £40million.

The 28-year-old has three years remaining on his current deal on the south coast.

Talks for Ward-Prowse have been described as hitting a stalemate with West Ham threatening to walk away and pursue other targets.

But the Saints are still expecting a third offer this week.

Moyes wants two new midfielders to replace Declan Rice, who joined Arsenal for £105million earlier this summer.

And after a number of players signed from overseas struggled to settle last year, the West Ham boss sees Premier League experience as vital when it comes to new additions this summer.

West Ham are yet to sign a player so far during the summer window, with their season getting under way in under a fortnight at Bournemouth.

The Hammers have had a £40million bid rejected by Chelsea for Conor Gallagher, who has indicated he wants to stay at Stamford Bridge.

A pursuit of Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha is considered over after two rejected bids before the Portuguese suffered a pre-season shoulder injury.

There is interest in Manchester United’s Scott McTominay and Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana, while former Chelsea loanee Denis Zakaria could join on loan.
