David Raya lined up for huge transfer to Champions League giants with Chelsea move at risk of being hijacked

CHELSEA’S move for David Raya is reportedly set to be hijacked by Bayern Munich.

That’s after the German champions made contact with Brentford’s No1 over a Bundesliga transfer.

Raya, 27, is set to leave Thomas Frank’s side after refusing to pen a new contract.

The Bees have already signed a replacement in Mark Flekken.

But Raya remains their player after seeing a move to Tottenham fall through.

Chelsea are still thought to be interested as they scour the market for Edouard Mendy’s replacement.

However, Raya could now be set for a switch abroad after Bayern joined the race.

Former Blues boss Thomas Tuchel is already hoping to raid the Premier League for Spurs striker Harry Kane and Man City defender Kyle Walker.

And Gazzetta claims Tuchel would now like to land Raya as back-up for Manuel Neuer.

Current No2 Yann Sommer is closing in on a transfer to Inter Milan as a replacement for Andre Onana, who joined Man Utd for £47million last week.

And Raya is seen as the ideal ‘sweeper-keeper’ to initiate Bayern attacks from the back.

It’s reckoned the Germans have already made “certain advancements” in the last few hours.

But Bayern will first have to negotiate a fee with Brentford, who want £40m for their stopper.

Those demands saw Spurs walk away from a deal earlier this summer.

And with Flekken already on board, Brentford could be open to selling Raya abroad for a lower fee.
