After his triumph, Allen went to collect his winner’s medal.

He hugged one tournament chief before going to grab his medal from another.

In an awkward moment, Allen’s medal dropped to the floor as it was about to be placed around his neck.

The “Pistol” saw the funny side of the incident, picking it up himself.

Amazingly, the ribbon was still placed around Allen’s neck, despite the actual medal having fallen off it.

Speaking after his triumph, he told ITV4: “It was tough all day.

“My safety kept me in the match, but it wasn’t a lot of fun to be involved in. I’ve won five (titles) in the last couple of years.

“I want to keep doing that and if I can get to 20 or 30 at the end of my career I would have done all right.

“There is a big six or seven weeks to come. To go in there off the back of another tournament win is something to be positive with.

“If I can just find a bit more comfort in my technique I can be dangerous in these last few tournaments.

“Everyone knows that I can win without playing well. It would be nice to find some form.”

Allen earned a cool £125,000 in prize money for lifting the trophy – taking his total earnings for the season to £496,689, as per CueTracker.

Runner-up Anda, meanwhile, pocketed £50k for his efforts.
