Dramatic moment victorious Cambridge Boat Race rower COLLAPSES as concerned fans say ‘hope he’s OK’

FANS were concerned after a Cambridge rower collapsed following today’s Boat Race.

Matt Edge, who has now won back to back races for Cambridge after they beat Oxford this afternoon, collapsed after crossing the finish line.

Edge was unable to get himself out of the boat and had to be lifted out by paramedics.

Thankfully, it was confirmed that Edge is OK, but he will now be taken for medical evaluation.

His performance along with the rest of the team saw Cambridge beat Oxford with ease.

Fans were quick to share their concern and wish Edge a speedy recovery.

One said: “Matt Edge literally gave everything for Cambridge, collapses at the finish.”

A second said: “Matt Edge, fantastic performance and not giving up till the last minute, hope he is okay.

A third added: “Wow, how Matt Edge kept going for Cambridge in the boat race for the last 4 minutes as Stroke. Left everything on the Thames. Hope he recovers to enjoy a beer or two tonight.”

While a fourth added: “Matt Edge gave absolutely everything there. What a fantastic win for Cambridge.”

BBC pundit and former Cambridge rower Imogen Grant said on the moment: “That was scary stuff to see, just so spent going over the line. They said, ‘loose, sit up, breathe’.

“Everybody said Oxford was the favourites, but Rob Baker has done a fantastic job with crews. I don’t think I’ve seen a winning crew look that spent at the finish line.”

Edge is completing a PhD in chemistry at Cambridge and has now won back to back boat races.

He previously studied Natural Sciences before specialising in chemistry.
