Eagle-eyed fans spot Luke Littler’s new technique at Premier League Darts that ‘makes him even better’

LUKE LITTLER showcased a new technique at Premier League Darts on night four of the competition.

The teenager has exploded on the circuit and maintained his form after reaching the World Darts Championship last month.

Littler also paused during his throw against Peter Wright and Michael van Gerwen

But he clearly still feels there is room for improvement so he varied his technique in Newcastle on Thursday.

Littler, 17, made a couple of slight adjustments which only darting experts may have picked up.

In his first match against Peter Wright the Warrington wonderkid decided to pause during his throw to set his dart a little more.

Previously Littler has thrown his dart in one fluid motion but he now appears to be delaying his throw ever so slightly.

The teen also appeared to hold his dart a little differently, placing his thumb on the side of the arrow rather than underneath.

It is a bold strategy from Littler to alter a tried-and-test method, but it paid off as he beat Wright 6-5.

However he did not show his best darts in the next match against Michael van Gerwen and towards the end of the clash he reverted to his preferred method of throwing.

But it did not pay off as he missed a chance to seal the match on his own throw, with Van Gerwen instead breaking to secure a 6-5 win.

The Dutchman then beat Nathan Aspinall in the final to win for the third consecutive night of Premier League Darts, but fans were more interested in Littler’s big change.

One fan reacted saying: “Luke Littler appears to have made an adjustment to his throw since the ProTour in midweek and it turns out he’s even better. Insane.”

Another added: “Only just tuned into the Premier League but Littler has changed his throw ever so slightly, he’s setting the dart more. He’s done this before but never this frequently, and he’s still unreal.”
