Eagle-eyed Man Utd fans blast ‘corruption’ as they spot reason Copenhagen goal ‘should have been disallowed’

MANCHESTER UNITED fans have blasted alleged “corruption” following their Champions League loss to Copenhagen.

The Red Devils let a two-goal lead slip after Marcus Rashford was sent off as they went on to lose 4-3 on Wednesday night.

Although they later regained their advantage, two late goals completed a dramatic turnaround for the hosts.

However, United supporters believe the match should have ended differently after spotting an infringement in Copenhagen’s first goal.

Replays showed that a player was stood in front of Andre Onana as Mohamed Elyounoussi scored.

Fans took to social media to argue that the player was stood in an offside position and interfering with play, meaning the goal should have been ruled out.

One supporter wrote: “We are being robbed week in week out, it’s clear corruption.”

Another fumed: “The amount goals we have got disallowed against us because of this, but when a team scores VAR don’t even look at it.”

A third fan also argued: “If it was Man U it’ll be disallowed.”

Meanwhile, one more agreed as they added: “Can you just imagine, but if it was united that scored they would have checked.”

United themselves had a goal disallowed by VAR in their win at Fulham on Saturday.

Scott McTominay’s strike was ruled out after Harry Maguire was deemed to be offside, despite not touching the ball.

Manager Erik ten Hag agreed that the goal should not have stood as he reflected in his post-match interview.

He told TNT Sports: “Two goals should never count. First it was offside and the second, what can you do for that?

“I have seen a lot of positives from that game but in the end we have lost some focus.”

United had raced into a two-goal lead through Rasmus Hojlund’s brace before Elyounoussi and Diogo Goncalves pulled the hosts level before half-time.

Despite Bruno Fernandes’ penalty putting Ten Hag’s side back in front, Lukas Lerager and Roony Bardghji scored in the final 10 minutes to snatch a famous win for Copenhagen.

The loss is United’s third in the Champions League already this season and leaves them bottom of the group with two matches remaining.
