And Ten Hag has decided to give an opportunity to three young players in training, although he has close to a full squad available.

Casemiro, Raphael Varane and Harry Maguire have all returned from injury absences in recent weeks and helped United turn their form around.

They have won five of their last six games and Ten Hag has now decided to take a look at the club’s next generation of talent.

Ethan Williams and Louis Jackson, both 18, were spotted training with the first-team alongside Toby Collyer, 20.

Midfielder Collyer trained with the first-team earlier this month too and was seen brushing shoulders with Alejandro Garnacho – an academy graduate.

United have a long and successful track record of bringing through youngsters and have four regulars in the squad – Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, Kobbie Mainoo and Scott McTominay.

They also boast an incredible record of having a homegrown player in every matchday squad stretching back to October 1937 – a run of more than 4,000 games.

McTominay is United’s second-highest scorer this season with eight goals while Garnacho has also caught the eye with his pace and trickery on the wing.

Harry Amass and Sam Mather will be aiming to replicate that success after also being involved in first-team training in recent weeks.

United have also been able to cash in on academy graduates Zidane Iqbal, Teden Mengi and Anthony Elanga in recent years, with the latter fetching £15million from Nottingham Forest last summer.
