ERLING HAALAND had the first laugh and the last word as he took revenge on Marc Cucurella for singing an odd song about him.
The Manchester City striker struck early when the Chelsea wing-back failed to block him, then gave an icy verdict on the Spaniard for his dotty ditty.
Many thought Cucurella was heading for trouble when he played against Haaland again, and so it proved as the striker and Man City sunk Chelsea[/caption] Haaland declined to help when Cucurella suffered cramp[/caption]Cucurella had celebrated his impressive role in earning Euro 2024 glory last month with a viral chant about the Norwegian.
He sang: “Cucurella eats paella, Cucurella drinks Estrella, Haaland trembles that Cucurella is coming.”
But fans scoffed at the wideman as City’s goal machine took revenge when the rivals clashed on the first Sunday of the Premier League season.
Haaland declined to intervene when Cucurella went down with cramp next to him late in the match – the long-haired lyricist this time belting out a cry for help rather than a ridiculous rhyme about his opponent.
Chelsea old boy Mateo Kovacic then curled a clincher as Pep Guardiola’s champs won 2-0.
And when Haaland was asked about Cucurella afterwards, he delivered an amusing dig at the 26-year-old.
He told Viaplay: “Well, Cucurella is a funny man. Last season he asked for my shirt… and this summer he sings a song about me.”
The former Borussia Dortmund hero had clipped a neat breakthrough goal – his 91st strike in 100 games for City.

Chelsea threatened an equaliser in the early stages of the second period.
But in the 80th minute Haaland ignored Cucurella’s apparent pleas for assistance on the ground – instead looking down on him almost contemptuously.
That left Chelsea’s skipper Enzo Fernandez and latest recruit Pedro Neto to assist Cucurella in tackling what appeared to be cramp.
Kovacic then hit a long-range clincher – to leave fans waxing lyrical about Prem life being stranger than musical art.
One viewer joked: “Football is so scripted. Cucurella went from singing this to getting cramp & asking Haaland to help him. Bro just walked straight past him and started laughing. I love this game.”
Another fan wrote: “Turns out Erling Haaland isn’t trembling.”
