Funded by Saudi’s Public Investment Fund, the new cross-game format has been put in place to decide who the best gaming club in the world is.

When is the Esports World Cup 2024?
The opening ceremony of the Esports World Cup 2024 took place on Tuesday, July 2 and it had fireworks, dancers, LED drones along with the unveiling of the mesmerising trophy.
But the tournament officially got underway on Wednesday, July 3.
Esports World Cup 2024 will run over eight weeks meaning that it is scheduled to conclude on Sunday, August 25.
And the chosen city for the competition is the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh.

How does the Esports World Cup 2024 work?
There will be 22 events across 21 different games including Call of Duty, League of Legends and EA FC 2024 just to name a few.
An estimated 1,500 gamers among 30 teams are set to battle it out for points in these competitions but there will also be group events too.
Esports will crown the overall winner and distribute £15.75 million ($20m) to the top 16 clubs that have gained the most overall points by the end of the eight-week span.
For example, FaZe CLan will accumulate points from each of its participating teams at the World Cup, across different games, and be the winner if they score the most by August 25th.

- Second: 600 points
- Third: 350 points
- Fourth: 200 points
- Fifth: 110 points
- Sixth: 70 points
- Seventh: 40 points
- Eigth: 20 points
