Euro 2024 stadium announcer forced to warn fans mid-game over ‘disgusting’ act in Serbia’s draw with Slovenia

FOOTBALL fans were warned against throwing objects onto the pitch during the Euro 2024 group stage match between Slovenia and Serbia.

In the latter stages of the game, some fans at the Allianz Arena began throwing plastic cups onto the pitch.

Serbia supporters appeared to aim the objects at Slovenia players following Zan Karnicnik’s opening goal.

The stadium announcer was forced to intervene in the final 10 minutes, warning those in attendance against throwing anything onto the field.

Fans watching on TV took to social media to react, with one person writing: “Serbian fans throwing c**p on the pitch. Disgusting.”

Another commented: “A Slovenian national player got beer cups thrown at him by Serbian fans during the match. Great sportsmanship, Serbia. Really great.”

A third wrote: “Serbian fans are a disgrace. Throwing cups and stuff at the Slovenian team. Horrible fanbase.”

While a fourth said: “The cups being chucked from the Serbia fans because they’re not happy LMFAO what is wrong with them.”

The match between Slovenia and Serbia ended 1-1 in Munich.

Karnicnik opened the scoring with a close-range strike in the 69th minute.

However, Luka Jovic equalised with the last touch of the match following a corner.

Slovenia next face England on Tuesday, while Serbia take on Denmark.
